This is a self improvement course that I have begun taking. It is free so I am putting the information here for anyone that might be interested.

I’m evaluating a multi-media course on blogging from the folks at Simpleology. For a while, they’re letting you snag it for free if you post about it on your blog.

It covers:

  • The best blogging techniques.
  • How to get traffic to your blog.
  • How to turn your blog into money.

I’ll let you know what I think once I’ve had a chance to check it out. Meanwhile, go grab yours while it’s still free.

Electrical Safety In Your Home

Posted by Ginidenninger on February 18th, 2008

fire-safety.jpgYour home is your haven, the place where you feel safe and secure. Yet, every year many people are hurt or killed because of home fires, many of which are caused by electrical problems. Even an electrical shock can seriously injure. Don’t neglect important safety issues.

One of the first things you can do is a walk through to check for damaged outlets. Loose fitting plugs can overheat and cause a fire. If you see a dark spot on the wall above the outlet, that is a sure sign the plug needs to be replaced. Other things to look for are broken plugs and cracked or broken housing. In fact, all older plugs should be updated. Newer ones accommodate a three-prong cord. And never, never remove the third prong!

Be sure electrical extension cords are not overloaded and their use is temporary. Extension cords are not strong enough to use on a permanent basis. Your extension cords should have a safety closure to prevent young children from injury. If it shows any signs of fraying, throw it out.

Even the smallest of children can be educated on electrical safety issues. It is important to pay close attention and to teach children the safety rules regarding this important utility. Caution them on the dangers of mishandling anything electrical. You can purchase inexpensive items that prevent very small children from putting their tiny fingers in a plug.

First and foremost - water and electricity do not mix. If an appliance falls in water, turn off the power source at the panel board and then unplug the appliance. Do not use it again until you’re sure it is thoroughly dry. If you are plugging something in while out of doors, check to make sure it is rated for the power needed and that it will safely handle the job.

Many people use space heaters in chilly weather. They are meant for supplemental heat only. Do not ever use them in a room where children are unsupervised and keep them clear of anything that might cause a fire, such as clothing, bedding or draperies and curtains.

If in doubt, contact a qualified electrician. Better to be safe than sorry.

AFGHANISTAN

Posted by Ginidenninger on February 2nd, 2008

013.jpg0062.jpggse_multipart146062.jpg0073.jpgWell folks my sincere apologies for not updating recently. As you probably know, we have been quite busy. The Roughnecks left Ft. Bragg on 21 December at zero dark thirty. No photos were allowed on the flight line because certain aircraft mistake camera flash as missile flash and then shoot out their flares. No kidding… Our first stop was Shannon, Ireland where Papi met real Irishmen! We then flew to Adana, Turkey where we re-fueled, but were not allowed to get off the plane. Finally after 20 hours in the air, we landed in Manas, Kyrgyzstan on an old Soviet airfield. Manas is located north of the Kyrgz Capital of Bishkek. After a few days, some of us flew to Bagram and others to Kabul on very crowded C-17s.

136 Merchants Rd

Posted by Ginidenninger on January 14th, 2008

This attractive American four-square house is located in the quiet Merchants Neighborhood on the east side of Rochester. It boasts a large yard. Next to the house is a deck where you can dine on a summers eve, under a trellis covered with vines. The yard is planted with many perinnuals, which promise to come up once our Rocheser winter has passed again.
Inside, the house is lovely, untouched gumwood throughout the downstairs. There is a woodburning fireplace, flanked by bookshelves on either side. The front porch has been enclosed, and can be used as an extra room, perhaps a home office? The bedrooms upstairs are roomy and can accomodate many uses.
Don’t miss the opportunity to see and pruchase this home. For more information call Gini Denninger at Hunt ERA Real Estate. 585-760-3880. target=”blank”>_http://www.propertysource.com/as.asp?aid=1234911813&mls=&address=&tzid=&sid=

Why live in Rochester NY?

Posted by Ginidenninger on January 13th, 2008

Winter in RochesterRochester, New York is located in one of the most scenic areas of the country. It lies next to Lake Ontario, and near the five Finger Lakes. We have rolling hills covered with woods or lush farm lands. Rochester has the four seasons of weather, without great extremes of weather like hurricanes or tornadoes.
We have a burgeoning high-tech industry beginning to boom supported by our many institutions of higher learning: University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo, Roberts Wesleyan College, St. John Fisher College & Nazareth College, Monroe Community College, Finger Lakes Community College.
We have many things to do with our leisure time. We have wonderful culture; a large music scene including the Rochester Philharmonic; art museums, various architectural & historical museums, including the Margaret Woodbury Strong Museum, Susan B. Anthony House and the George Eastman House.
There is a thriving restaurant and night club scene. You can eat food from almost any ethnic variation in Rochester. We have world class chefs and wineries all within driving distance from our homes. If you don’t like to eat out, bring in take-out from one of the many restaurants that offer it or from Wegmans our home grown grocers, who are now world famous for their dazzling stores.
There is a vibrant sports scene here with many teams from the recreational to professional such as the Razor Sharks current Continental Basketball Association champions, Rochester Raging Rhinos our soccer team and the professional arena football team, the Rochester Raiders.
Did I mention our well maintained zoo located near the beautiful Genesee River Gorge?
On top of all that, Rochester has a great standard of living…you can buy a great home here for a reasonable price. Call me for information on the great homes that can be had at reasonable prices. Why pay rent when you don’t have to? Gini Denninger. Hunt ERA Real Estate. 585-760-3880
